Accor’s first design hotel in mainland China, Sofitel Foshan, welcomes Taiwanese superstar on world concert tour stopover in China leading furniture city
(Shanghai, December 19, 2017) – “King of Asian Pop” Jay Chou was welcomed to Sofitel Hotels & Resorts’ first design hotel in mainland China, Sofitel Foshan, during the superstar’s world concert tour stopover in China leading furniture city on December 2 and 3.
The pop and film legend performed two sell-out concerts on the last leg of “The Invincible Concert Tour 2017” at the nearby Foshan Century Lotus Sports Center.
Fans were thrilled by a performance of his most famous and popular songs such as Can’t Speak, Sunny Day and The Roof – including some versions in Cantonese, especially in honor of the southern city.
He stayed in a French-Style Imperial Suite, the largest and most prestigious accommodation in Sofitel Foshan’s guest room collection at 550 sqm. Furnishing in Louis XVI style with elegant décor in a natural, floral “garden” color palette creates an unrivalled experience of French luxury, with an exquisite crown bed carving adding to the palatial fantasy.

The 38-year-old superstar also celebrated with a concert after-party at the hotel’s signature French restaurant Kwee Zeen, soaring over the city on the 58/F with Foshan’s highest outdoor dining terrace, which plays on the word “cuisine”, combining the Sofitel brand’s passion for “gastronomie Francaise” with Pan Asian specialties.

Jay Chou is a multi-award winning Mandarin singer-songwriter, with a unique “east-meets-west” musical style influenced by western rock, hip hop and blues.
He was dubbed “King of Asian Pop” by Time magazine for a phenomenal career selling more than 30 million albums, including more downloads than Madonna, Rihanna and Eminem.
Beyond a host of Chinese films, he is also making his name in Hollywood, starring as martial arts expert Kato in the 2010 re-making of Bruce Lee’s The Green Hornet, a race starter in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and as Mr. Li, the magic shop owner, in Now You See Me 2.
Opened in July 2017, Sofitel Foshan soars 236 meters over the city of Shunde atop an iconic and 62-storey skyscraper, blending modernity and the city’s rich heritage with stunning interior design inspired by French and Cantonese “Art de Vivre”, including guest rooms in four distinctive themes: modern, post-modern, Neo Chinese and French.
