(Hong Kong, 13 June 2019)– La Petite Maison, celebrated internationally for its Southern French and Niçoise cuisine is marking the start of the Mediterranean Summer with a chic new showcase of dishes, cocktails and wines especially fitting for those looking for a taste of the glamourous and charming Côte d’Azur life.
With restaurants in London, Dubai, Miami, Abu Dhabi, and now Hong Kong, La Petite Maison is not a typical French restaurant but is famed for its welcoming ambiance alongside Mediterranean-style produce with the highest quality seasonal ingredients and the freshest seafood, meat and pasta.
Taking inspiration from the South of France’s family style dining on long hot summer nights, the dishes are fresh, simple, served ‘à la minute’ and made for sharing.
The Hors D’Oeuvres (appetizers) for Summer include the classic Warm Prawns with Olive Oil(HKD208). This was a highlight of the original La Petite Maison in Nice and is a signature for the restaurant in Hong Kong. It features a perfectly precise quantity of the best olive oil, lemon and basil drizzled lovingly over halved fresh prawns with a sprinkle of French sea salt, served in a pretty plated fashion.
The Niçoise Salad (HKD288) is another house signature and is made with triple A-grade tuna that is prepared confit style in-house and mixed with olives, fresh anchovies and the best perfectly soft boiled eggs. Fish stock from the tuna is used as the base for a light dressing and is added to olive oil and lemon – so fresh and simple. Perfect for Summer sharing, or as a main course for one, the baby gem envelopes the fresh ingredients and the salad is served in a hand-blown glass dish.
A combination of two of the best French ingredients, the French Bean Salad with Foie Gras (HKD178) should be a staple on dining tables the world over as the beans are dressed to perfection with a simple Balsamic reduction.
The ‘Ratatouille et Feta’ (HKD 128) is Mediterranean vegetables of peppers, onions and aubergine marinated in Olive Oil and delicately stacked around the finest Greek feta and topped with springs of fresh Basil.
For the mains, light seafood options abound from Linguine Pasta with Venetian Clams (HKD268) to the Whole Sea Bream Baked in Papillote with Lemon, Herbs and Olive Oil (HKD 398). This healthy and flavourful way to cook fish, sealed in its own parchment paper pouch means the fish is steamed to perfection and is infused with the fragrant herbs and lemon juice. The light and zesty dish can be paired nicely with a side of Sautéed Broccolini.
A meaty yet Summery main, the Rack of Lamb (Carré d’Agneau) with Spiced Cous Cous (HKD998) is a fresh-flavoured roast lamb, with a marinade of kalamata olive paste, cardamom, paprika, honey and sherry vinegar and the accompaniment of cous cous adds texture.
Summer in the Mediterranean is all about long leisurely lunches drinking rosé, and La Petite Maison offers one of the most extensive lists of rosés in Hong Kong, including a selection of eye-catching double magnums for those who really want to settle in for the afternoon. There are also no less than six fine Rosés de Provence available by the glass from M, Château Minuty 2017 (HKD 108) to Rock Angel Château d’Esclans 2017 (HKD168).
At La Petite Maison’s long bar, thirst-quenching Summer drinks come in the form of the signature Tomatini (HKD 145) known as the true essence of La Petite Maison in a Martini glass, Fresh tomato juice, vodka, balsamic sugar, cane syrup, salt and pepper and garnished with fresh cherry tomato. As well as the Provençal Tonique (HKD150) which is the perfect Mediterranean style long drink with fresh garden fruits gin, basil and dash of the best bitters.
A non-alcoholic drink choice is the effervescent Vitamin Sea (HKD 70) – the ultimate thirst-quencher for a hot day, made with pink grapefruit, salted agave infused with rosemary and hibiscus, then topped with soda water.
It is not only the food that transports you further afield, La Petite Maison which means ‘Little House’ in French has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere thanks to an open kitchen with displays of fresh ingredients, specially curated lively music, curated bright and eccentric contemporary art and comfy leather banquet seating with crisp white table cloths – all are carefully chosen to allow guests to relax and stir feelings of sipping rosé in the sun no matter the season.
