(Hong Kong, 14 February, 2019) This February, COBO HOUSE is bringing edible art to the community of Bohemians, in the form of a limited edition ‘Cha Chaan’ tea set (HK$588 for two). Combining contemporary design and innovative recipes, with elements of local Hong Kong nostalgia, the light and airy restaurant welcomes the art-and culture-savvy to collect, connect and collide over afternoon tea with a twist.
Just one minute walk from HK University MTR station and helmed by Korean Chef Davin Kim, COBO HOUSE is serving up a photogenic tea set to tease the taste buds. Consisting of five refined savoury snacks and eight desserts, the delicacies take the form of local Cha Chaan Teng delights, presented on a tailor-made art deco-style serving platter.
With an exclusive serving of ten sets per day, the menu includes Chef Kim’s savoury take on a Hong Kong favourite; Pinapple Bun with Uni Butter, filled with a homemade butter blending fresh uni into a creamy filling, the soft and luscious bun offers a surprising salty taste to start with; Endive Stuffed with Galbi Beef and Seaweed Chip is another delicate savoury dish, with ingredients inspired by Chef’s Korean influence, bringing his Asian flair to the European tradition; Homemade Cheese Dirty Roll, a homemade flat bread topped with rare Ruby Chocolate shavings, brings a fusion of Hong Kong tradition and experimental flavours to the tea tower.
A colourful collection of popular street food treats make up the sweet offerings. The desserts include the Burger and Egg, a chocolate mousse along with sweet handmade marshmallow transformed into the shape and colours of two eggs, served in a mini frying pan set on the tea platter frame; Sweet Hot Dog is a fragrant macaroon ‘hot dog’ with mango sauce drizzled to look like mustard. The tea set also includes the restaurant’s own brand of Artisanal Chocolate Bonbon, a rich and flavoursome chocolate dessert, and the Homemade Scone in two flavours; Plain and Earl Grey, all made using a COBO HOUSE’s secret recipe, the scones are served with clotted cream and homemade cranberry jam.
The “Cha Chaan” menu is served with drinks offerings including environmental friendly Løv tea – an innovative and delicious blend of organic tea leaves. For coffee-connoisseur, Costadoro Coffee, the premium roasted coffee imported from capital city of Piedmont Italy with more than 100 years of history to produce quality coffee with the selection of the finest materials and roasting equipment.
The all new afternoon tea set will be served from 3-5:30pm on weekends and public holidays, starting from 16 February, 2019.
*Price is subject to a 10% service charge.
**10 sets of afternoon tea will be served each day. Reservation is required.
