(Hong Kong, 6 August 2019) – Estiatorio Keia, the eclectic new Greek dining destination in Central is transporting guests to the Aegean seaside this Summer with an all-new and extended Grecian afternoon tea.
Greeks eat late, and the time between “mesimeriano” (lunch) and dinner is long. The tradition of late afternoon relaxation, followed by a Greek coffee and small dessert is lavishly reinvented with a modern twist at Estiatorio Keia.
Taking inspiration from the rich culinary culture of the Mediterranean, the luxurious new restaurant in the glamorous H Queen Building in Central has begun serving a selection of traditional Greek tea time delicacies from 3-6pm daily.
Specialising in fresh seafood and authentic pastry dishes, the culinary team led by Greek celebrity pastry chef Marinos Kosmas have carefully selected a sinfully indulgent variety of savoury and sweet dishes perfect for whiling away an afternoon in stylish Mykonian surroundings.
Priced at HK$288 for one, or HK$488 for two, the three-tier tea set, starts with take on a the classic Greek spinach pie but in mini form, the Vol au vent Spanakopita style is created with served with slow cooked spinach, feta and dill; a popular and traditional Greek pastry; followed by Open salmon sandwiches served with cream cheese and herbs to complete the savoury selection.
Six colourful and creative miniature desserts add a sweet touch to the afternoon delights. From the Keia signature mini Mojito eclairs and flavoured macaroons, to Sicilian lemon mini cake and Chocolate and coffee opera gateau, Chef Marinos’ culinary skills which have made him a household name in the Greek equivalent of the TV series ‘Master Chef’ shine through in every delicate bite.
No teatime offering is complete without a selection of homemade scones. Served warm and topped with clotted cream, butter and strawberry confiture, the cream tea classic tops off proceedings.
Accompanying the set, an assortment of fine teas are on offer, including the indigo-coloured Blue Butterfly Pea tea (+HK$28), the popular Royal Lily blooming flower tea (+HK$48), blossoming once added to hot water at the table, and a sweet and earthy Greek Mountain Tea. Full of antioxidants, essential oils and flavonoids, the plants used to brew this rare tea are only found on rocky slopes above 3,200 feet, high in the Greek mountains, and are considered a delicacy in their homeland.
Coffee connoisseurs can try Greek Mastika coffee (+HK$28); a special blend of coffee mixed with Mastic syrup, nicknamed “tears of Chios” and traditionally harvested from the trees on the Greek islands. Iced coffees, lattes and espresso are also included.
Alternatively, guests can relax all afternoon with a glass of fine Champagne in hand. The menu can be expertly paired with a half-bottle of Duval Leroy Rose for an additional HK$688.
