Van Gogh SENSES Launches Various Festive Menus
(10 December, Hong Kong) Van Gogh SENSES – the world’s first art-themed store dedicated to Vincent van Gogh has just launched different festive menus to enjoy throughout December. With the celebrated artist’s work in mind during the creation of each dish and menu, guests can enjoy a nostalgic and festive art-inspired Christmas feast. To conclude an exciting and visionary year of culinary achievements, Van Gogh SENSES has also crafted two special Christmas drinks, available exclusively at the 1881 Heritage store throughout December.
Christmas Dinner Menu
Celebrating the yuletide season this year, Van Gogh SENSES is exclusively serving an upgraded Christmas Dinner Menu (HK$980) between 22 and 25 December. With the festive meal being an essential part of every family’s holiday, the inspiring restaurant kicks off the experience in an elegant style with a glass of celebratory Champagne, presented to diners upon arrival.
Offering three delightful dishes to the Festive Set Menu running throughout December, this indulgent dinner features the delectable starters such as Smoked Duck Breast & Liver Pate, Brioche Toast & Matcha Tea, along with the December favourite, Marinated Yellowtail Pickle Heirloom Tomato & Endive Salad. Alongside a pasta course including luxurious fresh egg pasta dishes like Wild Boar with Winter Chestnut Ravioli - a soft homemade pasta parcel filled with a wild boar stuffing -guests have the option to choose from three special mains, including the Royal Pigeon with Black Truffle Potatoes & Crispy Garlic Confit, available only throughout these four days. For sweet tooth, Homemade Baked Panettone & Gingerbread with Earl Grey Orange Sauce will be the perfect finale to a Christmas dinner.
New Year’s Eve Dinner
A celebratory dinner consisting of six lavish courses has also been crafted to welcome the New Year. The New Year’s Eve Dinner (HK$1,280) begins with a welcome glass of Champagne and a choice of two light and fresh starters to follow; Imperial Caviar, Served with Homemade Blini and Crème Fraiche, and Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallop, Peru Fresh Corn & Endive Salad.
A warming Italian Controne Beans Soup, Sautéed French Organic Wild Mushroom and Brittany Blue Lobster & Australian Eggplant Ravioli, Roasted Capsicum Sauce are served before the hearty winter mains. A diverse choice of dishes are available to choose from; Iberico Pork Loin and Ribs, Sweet Potato and Grill Plum, and Wild Catch Seabass Roll and Cockles, Fresh Artichoke and Pancetta.
The set dinner finishes with a sinful dessert of Dutch Apple Beignet, Caramel Potato Gelato served in a martini glass, before the private outdoor viewing deck opens to allow guests to continue their countdown with views of fireworks over the harbour.
Besides the two celebratory dinner sets, additional menus have been crafted, offering something for everyone this December and kicking off the New Year.
Festive Set Menu
Van Gogh SENSES embody the tradition of hearty Christmas dining experiences by introducing a five-course Festive Set Menu (HK$880) served from 17 to 21 and 26 to 30 December. Begin the festive feasting extravaganza in style with Seasonal Dutch Oysters (additional HK$58), Italian Black Truffle, Tomino Cow Cheese & Asparagus, English Breakfast Tea Infused Japanese Egg, or Marinated Yellowtail Pickle Heirloom Tomato and Endive Salad. The meal follows with a Turkey with Australian Carrot Broth, artfully poured at the table to invigorate all five senses.
Pasta dishes that take inspiration from iconic Christmas staples include Trio Potato Gnocchi with Roma Tomato Compote and Smoked Burrata Cheese with Christmas tree colour associations from red, green and purple potato dough.
The main course includes new dishes such as Orange Ginger Tea Smoked French Duck Breast with Celeriac & Mandarin Orange, or a 7oz Australian M7 Beef Sirloin (additional HK$198) is served with an earthy mix ofporcini and wild mushrooms. The meal finishes with the popular panettone dessert and an accompanying selection of coffees and teas.
Christmas Lunch Menu
Available from 10 to 30 December, the artfully-decorated restaurant will be serving a three (HK$298) or four (HK$368) course lunch menus, from 11:30am until 3:30pm. Blurring the lines between edible delicacies and art, diners can treat themselves to a selection of tasty specialties fit for the festive season.
The menu offers a choice of two starters, including a refreshing salad of Marinated Yellowtail Pickle Heirloom Tomato and Endive and Australian Eggplant and Heirloom Tomato Pesto. A wintery and warm French Onion Soup is next served with a Scamorza cheese garden toast.
The main dish presents elegant Pan Fried Cod Fish, Pancetta and Savoy Cabbage Stew, traditional Sous Vide Turkey Breast with Garlic Cream Spinach or Aged 9 Years Acquerello Riso, Italian Black Truffle and Japanese Pumpkin. Complete the lunch experience on a high note with Homemade Baked Panettone & Earl Grey Orange Sauce.
New Year’s Day Brunch
Start off 2019 with a brand new weekend brunch menu. Serving from 11:30am to 3:30pm, a five course meal consists of a starter, soup, pasta, main course, and dessert is on offer for HK$478 per person or for HK$398 without a pasta dish. Two-hour unlimited soft drinks and juices are priced at HK$70 per person, or HK$188 for an upgraded beverage package with sparkling wine, rosé, red and white wine.
Speciality Festive Drinks
Seasonal drinks will be offered in Van Gogh SENSES throughout December, available to enjoy in the restaurant. Sip on a warming festive Floating Snowman (HK$52), with a cute marshmallow snowman topped with sugar snow like icing. The hot beverage is made from mint chocolate tea, hot milk and chocolate syrup - the ideal cosy afternoon drink to spread Christmas cheer.
For something a little stronger, guests can try the Golden Snowball (HK$108), a spicy mix of honey whisky, pumpkin vodka, Chai tea and lemon juice, served with a toasted marshmallow and sprinkling of icing sugar.
