Hong Kong, 14 March 2019 –The first Vinexpo Shanghai will take place from 23-25 October 2019 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC). This new biennial Vinexpo exhibition reflects the Group’s global expansion strategy and ambition to be present in China every year, with Vinexpo Hong Kong already taking place every two years.
Preparation for the trade show is in full swing with many international producers already announcing their presence for the first edition. Chinese professional buyers will be able to sample wines from the US, such as American producers like Constellation and Gallo as well as the Spanish wines of Osborne Group, Siegel of Argentina and the Chilean Grape Group.
France will be well represented with Côtes du Rhône of the Chapoutier house, as well as the great wines of Bordeaux from the trading houses Joanne and Twins. Of course, China itself will also benefit from the opportunity of Vinexpo Shanghai to present its production to key buyers; the large Chinese companies Cofco and Changyu have already reserved their space.
Shanghai is a key import destination where Vinexpo will gather wine and spirits worldwide producers. Its aim is to create new development solutions for its clients through the group’s 20-year experience in Asia-Pacific and by continuing its recent Chinese e-commerce partnership with Asia’s most successful e-retailer, Alibaba.
The first collaboration was at last year’s Vinexpo Hong Kong 2018, where Alibaba showcased Tmall Wine’s new retail concept of ‘Future Bars’. Vinexpo will reinforce its partnership with China’s most successful e-retailer, Alibaba at the Shanghai show in 2019.
Vinexpo Shanghai will also be the place of great and unique tastings – a real signature of Vinexpo – with a tasting by Italian wines Franciacorta already scheduled as part of the show.
And as it would not be Vinexpo without prestigious evenings that honor the art of living and receiving “à la française”, La Commanderie du Bontemps, Médoc - Graves - Sauternes - Barsac will welcome its most important guests to a Gala dinner where the great wines of Bordeaux will be in the spotlight.
Since its establishment in Bordeaux in 1981, on the initiative of Bordeaux Gironde’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vinexpo has been a leading organizer of events for the wine and spirits industry. In 38 years, Vinexpo has developed a unique understanding of the market and an extensive network of key distributors around the world. The brand currently runs exhibitions in five set locations (Bordeaux, Hong Kong, New York, and soon Shanghai and Paris), and the touring event Vinexpo Explorer. Every year, the Group also publishes the Vinexpo/IWSR Report, which is the most comprehensive survey on the global consumption of wine and spirits.
