Press Release
(Hong Kong, 10 May 2019) – YUM CHA, the modern dim sum restaurant well-known for innovative Chinese creations like the Insta-famous hot custard molten buns, is now incorporating another new concept – OMN!PORK.
Just in time for Summer healthy eating, YUM CHA is launching five brand new dishes, all featuring the ground-breaking, plant-based pork substitute.
Replacing minced pork in five new vegetarian creations, OMN!PORK is made from a blend of finely chopped shitake mushrooms, peas, rice and non-GMO soy, forming a nutritional and environmentally friendly vegan mince.
Taking their signature BBQ pork recipe and replacing the traditional pork meat with OMN!PORK, YUM CHA has created the fragrant Baked BBQ OMN!PORK Puffs (HK$49). Mixed with the original BBQ pork sauce filling and fresh pineapple, the puffs are then brushed with poppy seeds to coat the crispy shells.
Served in twos, the Stuffed Mushroom with Minced OMN!PORK (HK$89) features a fresh Portobello mushroom, stuffed with minced mushrooms and OMN!PORK. Grilled and topped with barbeque sauce, these little veggie patties are full of flavour.
Spicing up portions of broad beans, OMN!PORK is stuffed into the green pods, along with chopped fresh mushrooms. The broad beans are then topped with a newly created secret spicy sauce creating a tasty and healthy alternative to the traditional dish; Stuffed Broad Beans with Minced OMN!PORK (HK$99).
Transforming another Chinese classic, YUM CHA fills crunchy cabbage cake with minced OMN!PORK, dried bonito and nutritious fresh green cabbage before pan-frying the crust on both sides to create the delicious Pan-Fried Minced OMN!PORK and Shanghai Cabbage Cake with Dried Bonito (HK$109). Another photogenic feast lies with the Steamed Minced OMN!PORK and Egg White in “Tai Chi” (HK$99) a plant-based patty is crafted into a “Yin” symbol, while the “Yang” side is filled with creamy egg whites.
With 53% more iron and 70% less saturated fats compared to regular ground pork, these new dishes boast a wealth of health benefits. Each 100g of OMN!PORK contains 4.4g fibre and 0g cholesterol, and uses 65% less energy to produce.
First introduced exclusively to Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui YUM CHA from 6 May, these new dishes will be available in Central and Causeway Bay branches by 8 May 2019. With ‘Insta-worthy’ presentation and innovative Chinese recipes, these new additions to the menu are sure to bring smiles to family feasts.
