Cityplaza’s TREATS Jointly Launches Unmanned Store with Mei Lok Store and AlipayHK
Leading the way in new food and lifestyle concept, TREATS at Cityplaza looks to serve up gastronomic delights for food enthusiasts. Today, TREATS jointly presents the first “Mei Lok Unmanned Experimental Pop-up Store” alongside partners Mei Lok Store and AlipayHK. By selling nostalgic goods using an all-new retail payment method under the concept of “New Nostalgia, New Retail”, the store provides customers with interesting experiences that integrate both new and old shopping trends, whilst bringing back collective memories of previous generation. TREATS has always supported the continued exposure of local brands including Ser Wong Fun Restaurant, Kelly’s Cape Bop, Xiao Tian Gu Ma Ma and MinMinDim, and is committed to creating an extraordinary atmosphere for customers.
This first unmanned experimental pop-up store will operate from now until 31 January 2019, under the collaboration of TREATS and Mei Lok Store. Customers can choose to make payments at the designated self-service checkout counters by using AlipayHK e-wallet. With such policy, the store aims at promoting the convenience and efficiency of e-payment to clients of different age groups.
E-payment is a new and growing trend in retail. Money transactions become more efficient when value adding, payment and money transfer can be done by simply using mobile applications. Nowadays, e-payment have already been adopted by many merchants. As operating costs are reduced in various aspects, customers could enjoy more benefits when shopping.
Kitty Yuen, one of the founders of MinMinDim, is also a supporter for the launch. Recently, she and Patrick Lee, founder of Mei Lok Store, shared their views on the new trends of diversified retail experiences. They also enjoyed first-hand experience at the unmanned experimental pop-up store, as they showcased the advantages of purchasing through AlipayHK e-wallet.

To promote the unmanned store, TREATS and Mei Lok Store also introduced a series of limited-edition lucky boxes containing classic snacks and retro toys. These boxes also offer customers the chance to win a coupon for the renowned “Sorrowful Rice”, Cantonese barbecued pork with an egg on rice inspired by Stephen Chow's movie, or a bowl of cart noodles at MinMinDim with three ingredients.
