(Hong Kong, 18 April 2018) Chef Edward Voon welcomes cutting-edge culinary maestro Sergio Herman at LE PAN this May. The daring Dutchman, who has accrued a total of six Michelin stars so far in a headline-making career, will cook lunch and dinner for three days, from 29-31 May. On the final night of the guest appearance, the two charismatic chefs will unite for a not-to-be-missed Four Hands dinner paired with exceptional wines from LE PAN’s extensive cellar.
This is the first time since opening that LE PAN has undertaken a guest chef collaboration, and in Herman, Voon has found a kindred soul. “We want to bring exciting new tastes and experiences to our patrons, and Sergio Herman was the first chef in Europe we sought out,” says Voon. “I have long admired the complex simplicity and refinement of his cooking that emphasises fresh ingredients, and the adrenalin rush he brings to the profession - he is a free spirit, a visionary.”
Diners at LE PAN can enjoy a full Herman ‘happening’, with his light dishes proving an excellent match for the airy, all-white dining rooms. The five-course lunch and eight-course dinner menus (priced at $1,080 and $2,480 respectively) are tailor-made for the Kowloon Bay restaurant.
“I cannot wait to create together with Chef Sergio,” says Voon of their showpiece collaboration on the final night ($3,880 with wine pairing). There are some striking similarities between the two men. They share a penchant for seafood and simple yet layered dishes, a contemporary style and an artistic nature, and they both relish risk-taking. Expect a no-holds-barred evening.

ABOUT SERGIO HERMAN
3 Michelin Stars – Oud Sluis
2 Michelin Stars – The Jane
1 Michelin Star – Pure C Bar & Restaurant
Sergio Herman claimed his first Michelin star at age 25, having taken over the family restaurant, Oud Sluis, in Zeeland, the Netherlands. Renowned for the lightness of his cuisine and the boldness of his character, he had three stars and a 35th ranking on the World’s Best 50 Restaurants list when he closed Oud Sluis in 2013 and relocated to Belgium to conceive, design and open The Jane in a converted Antwerp chapel, where he serves modern European food in a non-stuffy, atmospheric setting.
From the tattooed kitchen, art-filled interiors, designer tableware and fashion-forward uniforms, Herman stamped his personality on The Jane, and within a year the restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars. The Dutch master also has one star at Pure C, his beautifully styled beachside bar and restaurant at Cadzand-Bad, a stone’s throw from Oud Sluis where the adventure began.
