The recent launch of the Arne Jacobsen’s classic Ant chair with Danish Kvadrat front upholstery is yet another fine example of Manks dedication to Nordic design.
The Ant chair was designed in 1952 by iconic Danish architect Arne Jacobsen for the Novo Nordisk canteen. Novo Nordisk was and still is, a leading Danish global healthcare company. With the organic silhouette of the chair resembling that of an ant, this 1950s design is truly an endearing icon of Danish Modern Design. The original design of the Ant was 3-legged with the 4-legged version introduced in 1971. Both with continued production since.
Made from 9 layers of pressure molded veneer, the introduction of the Ant chair with its curved single piece pressed seat and back was a technical innovation back in 1950s. It paved the way for the creation of the iconic Series 7, Grand Prix and Lily chairs, a series of award-winning chairs all originating from the Ant.
The latest Ant is available in a myriad of shell and base colour variants. The launch of the Ant in soft grey with front upholstery in the finest Kvadrat grey fabric is modern, stylish to complement both metal or wooden legged tables. As mentioned by co-founder of Manks, Paul Fung, the 4-legged Ant chair goes perfectly with the Superellipse, Circular tables and Essay rectangular solid oak table which are from the same stable, Fritz Hansen.
Legendary Danish architect Arne Jacobsen is the most influential designer in Danish modern design to date. His masterpieces include the Egg chair, Series 7, Lily chairs and AJ lamp, most revered among design lovers. All of these Danish national treasures are presently on display at Manks.

螞蟻椅(Ant Chair) 是由著名丹麥建築及設計師Arne Jacobsen於1952年為丹麥藥廠Novo Nordisk員工餐廳設計的. 螞蟻椅形狀似螞蟻, 是丹麥上世紀中期設計的永恒標誌. 原来的設計是三腳式。四腳螞蟻,即現有的3101,從1971年起生產至今,没有間段。

而Manks最新從丹麥引入的經典PH 3/2 檯燈2022限量版則是北歐燈飾經典的其中一款代表之作。
PH 3/2檯燈由著名丹麥設計師Poul Henningsen設計於1927年,最大亮點是其"Three Shade System",即是採用三層不同大小弧度、用對數螺旋計算的磨紗玻璃特製燈罩。燈罩經專業技師用手工吹製而成,有助提供均勻光線及防眩光。
除此之外,丹麥廠商更選用黃銅(brass)作為PH 3/2 2022年限量版檯燈的主要材料。將原先最高、最大的玻璃燈罩改為黃銅,而第二及第三層燈罩則繼續沿用磨紗玻璃燈罩,令設計與普通版本相比更為特出。至於金屬燈座,由銀色改為黃銅,則更引人注目及給散發出高貴氣息。
據Manks主理人馮先生說,PH 燈飾系列是北歐現代設計的重要部份,深受客戶歡迎,而每當有限量版發行更是十分搶手。例如,2021年推出的限量版PH 2/2 Question Mark檯燈體積輕巧,可以調較角度,設計復古優雅,店內存貨早已沽清,而廠商亦已停止生產。但幸好,Manks最近從丹麥廠商引入了數件最後倉存,而這全球所剩無幾的PH 2/2檯燈會以先到先得形式出售。

Michael Young is presenting his first in-house furniture collection with Hong Kong’s leading purveyor of modern design furniture Manks from the 9th of December.
This is a new brand that has evolved from the desire to build a personal platform that can embody a lifetime of creative discovery, blending into an experiential universe. Being Asia centric it is also an attempt to answer current supply chain issues by using locally sourced production.
A key matter in the creation of the collection was the optimisation of sales within China. This involved due diligence to the best standard for current supply chains. All materials employed consider environmental impact by using a low-carbon material derived from renewable sources. In plastics, for example, straw fibre makes up around 30% of the composition.
The collection consists of a number of new pieces, mixed with some older historical designs. The spotlight at this event is the new Sheffield sofa range and a selection of lighting, ceramics, and accessories.
Manks and Michael go back almost 20 years:
“When I first started heading to Hong Kong I was always on the lookout for places to experience design. As it happened Manks showcased both new and old Scandinavian Design which is very close to my heart. It was always a pleasure to go there and drink tea and chat with Susan and Paul about design and life... going there was like visiting a private museum. We had often talked about working together as like-minded spirits with the same tastes and natural friendships"
This has now come full circle with the launch of Michael Young as a brand in Hong Kong looking out to the world.

Regulated by the French law - yes, it is as important as it sounds -, the annual release of this wine takes place at precisely 12.01 am on the third Thursday of November.
The liberation of the young red wine, also known as 'vin de primeur', made with Gamay grapes harvested just six weeks before bottling is accompanied by festivities, fireworks, and party everywhere in the world, from the city of Beaujeu to New York, passing by Tokyo or London!
But how a simple wine originally drunk by local vignerons experienced such a world-wide fame?
During the 50's, wine makers began competing each year in a race to deliver the first bottles to Paris. In the 1970s, winemaker and businessman Georges Duboeuf, saw the potential of the festivities associated with the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau and started to publicize the wine and its associated tradition. The first banners proclaiming, “Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!” (The Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived!) became commonplace and, the day of its release, one of the biggest parties of the year!
This year, Cheese Club and Pastis Group are bringing the festivities in town! Hongkongers will have the opportunity to taste and celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau on Thursday 17th only in 5 French restaurants (Metropolitain, Nissa La Bella, Café Claudel, Eiffel Bistro, Pastis) offering special packages for the occasion!

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS – (EMAILWIRE) -- The Bazaars Project has launched its peer-to-peer marketplace app in the Apple App and Google Play stores. The app allows users to buy and sell goods, property, and vehicles with cryptocurrency. This milestone is significant for the Bazaars Project's mission to create a proof-of-stake blockchain network and a decentralized peer-to-peer marketplace.
“The crypto market value is more than $2 trillion. There are thousands of cryptocurrencies and most of their value so far has come from speculation and trading rather than their ability to be exchanged for any tangible goods or assets. The Bazaars Project is aiming to change this by providing a marketplace where people can buy and sell everyday products and valuable assets using cryptocurrency,” said Cryptomoe, founder of the Bazaars Project.
The Bazaars Project has also launched BZR, its ERC20 token. The token is now available on the Uniswap exchange, with other exchanges coming soon. Token holders will earn a percentage of the transaction fees collected from the Bazaars marketplace.
Future phases of the project will enable users to create and deploy smart contracts and decentralized apps individually or in groups without the need for a third party.
The Bazaars marketplace app is not bound by national or regional borders. Customers can shop securely and privately from any location. The Bazaars app does not collect, store, or track sensitive data. Users can register using their mobile phone numbers and email addresses and the app will only collect information required by the app stores.

Chinese Ceremony
Chinese wedding ceremonies have many rituals and traditions with symbolic meanings; these focus on blessings, feng shui, prosperity and anything that enhances the happiness of the couple.
Nicole Please Weddings has extensive knowledge of these symbolic meanings and intricate details and was able to supply the couple with the needed materials. This is demonstrated by featuring the traditional decorations inside the suites, the door games before the groom picks up the bride and the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. BSY’s new music video for Out of Time was released. The core idea of the song is on the decentralized nature of cryptocurrency, which has successfully ignited a brand new era. In this era, everyone deserves to have their own cryptocurrency to break the monopoly of capitalists, and even disrupt the order of the banking and inherent social institutions, to live a life of financial freedom. The music video to the track contains many intriguing metaphors and is a perfect harmony between artistic creation and cryptocurrency. For instance, in one of the scenes of the video, explosives on the moon blew up a figure resembling Tesla founder Elon Musk; this scene is a hint at Musk creating upheavals in the market using his Twitter account.
