10.6.2015, 09:02

In response to the RED Travel Alert on Korea issued by the Security Bureau of the HKSAR Government, effective immediately Cathay Pacific and Dragonair will implement the special ticketing arrangements for outbound travel from Hong Kong to Korea between 9 June and 31 August 2015 inclusive.

According to the Government's Outbound Travel Alert System (OTA), passengers are advised to adjust travel plans and avoid non-essential travel under a Red Alert. For more details of the OTA System, please visit http://www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota/.

According to the special ticketing arrangement, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair will waive re-booking and re-routing fees for all tickets issued in Hong Kong (irrespective of fare type) on or before 9 June 2015 for travel on its flights for Seoul, Busan and Jeju in Korea between 9 June  (Hong Kong time) and 31 August 2015. In addition, most tickets (except those with specific non-refundable terms) can also be refunded subject to a handling fee. For further details, please refer to www.cathaypacific.com and www.dragonair.com.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to coordinate closely with health authorities in Hong Kong and in all the ports that we operate flights to.

Our frontline staff are reminded to remain alert and vigilant, while being on the lookout for passengers presenting with infectious disease symptoms. Additional inflight health measures announcements are made on all Cathay Pacific and Dragonair flights arriving in Hong Kong and on flights to certain destinations, informing passengers who might be suffering from certain symptoms, to report to the local Port Health or Quarantine office upon arrival.

We have uploaded extra facemasks, hand sanitizers and gloves on our aircraft and we have also provided health advice to frontline staff in Korea. In addition to our routine cleaning procedures, additional cleaning measures of our aircraft will be conducted if required.

We also have in place “Suspected Infectious Disease Procedures and Guidelines” for frontline staff to follow, which are based on the guidelines of World Health Organisation and International Air Transport Association.
