PRESS RELEASE: Empowering Minority Women-Owned Businesses in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, 10 September 10, 2019 LS5 Health & Wellness takes a modern take on celebrating the modern day national heroes: Filipina Entrepreneurs in Hong Kong. 

LS5 Health & Wellness hosted a “Women in Business” panel on August 26, 2019, celebrating two Filipina entrepreneurs in Hong Kong. The panel took place during the Philippine Association of Hong Kong’s event honoring national heroes. However, LS5 Health & Wellness took a modern-day approach to this, shedding light on what is known to usually be marginalized or minority groups in society: Filipinos and women. The lifestyle company wanted to spread the message that minority groups in Hong Kong can in fact become entrepreneurs or achieve higher despite their stereotype as only being foreign help. 

The two guests, Lani Nasayao, Managing Director of LS5 Health & Wellness, and Cola Paclibar, Founder of The Good Vibes Only Movement, shared their experiences starting their own businesses in a country outside of their country of origin and the challenges they faced along the way. Ms. Paclibar shared her story on how she started her company. She was suffering from depression when she decided to create a Facebook community called The Good Vibes Only Movement where she shared positive content to uplift and inspire others. Overtime, it developed into a business where she started to produce content, manage events, do creative direction and video production for several clients. She has demonstrated a history of working in the events, lifestyle/entertainment, F&B, health and wellness industry with brands such as Red Bull, Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels, PALKE, and Lumio to name a few.

On the other hand, Ms. Nasayao’s business started from her passion in cooking and after she was diagnosed with brain tumor. The mother of four became very cautious and curious about cooking healthy meals for her family not only to help her recovery process but in hopes of preventing illnesses within her family as well. That was when she came across Saladmaster. Ms Nasayao also shared her experiences stating that there were instances where she faced discrimination in the industry as well, but encouraged Filipinos not to be discouraged when instances like this happens. Since LS5 Health & Wellness was founded in 2014, it has won notable awards being nominated for “The Most Reliable Cookware” in 2018 and is nominated for a second year this year. They are an authorized dealership for the American Cookware brand, Saladmaster. A 316 Titanium Stainless Steel cookware system, the same type of material used in medical grade instruments. The past summer, they ran Italian Cookery Classes for parents and kids to create bonding experiences and lasting memories for families.

Both Entrepreneurs hoped to have inspired young Filipina women in Hong Kong to achieve for greatness and encouraged them to work hard and be passionate about their goals. They hoped to serve as great examples for Filipinos living abroad and to shed light on the achievements of minority groups in Hong Kong.
