(Hong Kong, 2 May 2019) – Whisky has been the tipple of choice for centuries and 2019 doesn’t appear to be any exception. With more distilleries opening up, more indie bottlers and more blended malts in particular, Berry Bros. & Rudd is celebrating the rising trend of Scotch whisky drinking in Hong Kong this World Whisky Day (18 May). With a worldwide net revenue of USD$89,631* and a total production of 56.95.3 million litres, the top regionally made whiskies are Scotch Whisky, Canadian Whisky, Irish Whiskey, Kentucky Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey. Scotland alone produces 700 million litres of whisky per year, exclusively from 97 major distilleries throughout five regions including Speyside and the Isle of Islay; the home of Berry Bros. & Rudd’s distinctive blended malts. Berry Bros. & Rudd has an extensive and eclectic whisky range as well as an encyclopaedic selection of information on Scotch whisky regions and international whisky styles. Berry’s Classic Whisky range reflects a growing sub-category of Scotch whisky - that of “blended malts” - and offers the best of this classic style Scotch within four different blended malts. Blended malts are a mixture of single malt whiskies, different to blended Scotch as these bottles do not include any grain whisky. These ‘budget friendly’ premium bottles make whisky easily enjoyable and accessible, whilst keeping a level of complexity to the spirit. The Berry Bros. & Rudd Whisky selection consists of the following bottles: Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml HKD 450 Many of Scotland’s most famous malts hail from Speyside, known for their approachable, fruity style and floral complexity. This malt captures the very essence of the Speyside region of Scotland, balancing subtle honeyed fruit Islay Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml HKD 450 Renowned for its Hebridean island of Islay with its distinctive peaty style and smoky flavours of its whiskies. Specially selected from casks of some of Islay’s iconic distilleries creating a balanced, complex and distinguished smoky dram. This whisky has light and beautifully integrated tar aromas with hints of orchard fruits; offering a full and approachable sweet and creamy texture. Sherry Cask 700ml HKD 450 In the Asian market, whisky continues to gain popularity amongst a growing number of female enthusiasts too, who often opt for the fruitier flavours with notes of wine and sherry which come from sherry casks. These are considered a luxury in Whisky making, but the expensive barrels infuse distinctive notes of deep fruit, citrus and nuts. The Classic Sherry Cask Matured Malt is blended from the best Sherry butts to deliver a balanced expression of this uniquely engaging style. Peated Cask 700ml HKD 450 The Classic Peated Cask is a tribute to the traditional, peated dram, expressing bursts of soot and smoke complemented by the spirit’s fruitiness. A rise in new and unusual casks is also common amongst distillers today, with maturation taking place inside cognac, wine and port barrels. *Facts and figures all correct as of 27/03/2019 from USA Spirits Ratings How to Order |
