(Hong Kong, 30 May 2018) Inspired by the world’s biggest and brightest festival Carnaval do Rio, Uma Nota Hong Kong unveils an explosive event that transports guests to a Blocos street party in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. With banging beats, free-flowing caipirinhas and a Brazilian street food feast, brunch-goers can expect a fully immersive and fun Saturday brunch experience for HK$650* (all-inclusive, per person).
Starting from 9 June 2018, Uma Nota’s Carnaval Brunch will take place every second Saturday of the month. Guests are given feather masks and flower crowns as they enter an electrifying atmosphere bursting with the spirit and colour of Brazil. They will also be given instruments and shakers made from recycled materials to create music together with the live drummers who lead the charge with the beating of the drums.
Outside on Peel Street the action continues with the traditional Brazilian sport of peteca or “hand shuttlecock”. A friendly game that soon escalates to entertaining competition between friends.
Free-flow drinks will include continuous pours from cocktail jugs, prosecco, draught beer, red and white wine as well as soft drinks, but guests will also be invited to step behind the Caipirinha Shack to make their own Brazilian-style cocktails. Created with Brazil’s spirit of choice cachaça, the carnival crowd can opt for an original made with sugar and lime or mix in their own choice of fresh fruits. Sip on a refreshing watermelon or a tropical pineapple & passionfruit caipirinha that will lend the courage for a samba shakedown on the dancefloor.
The feast flows to the table with Brazilian favourites made for sharing; including Coxinhas de frango, golden chicken and okra dumplings and Dadinhos de tapioca, crispy tapioca and cheese dices. Guests will then tuck into tender Beef and Portobello Mushroom Skewers, served with a red bell pepper chimichurri sauce.
An occasion for large groups and friends, main dishes include the fragrant whole Grilled Seabass in banana leaf filled with fried banana and cassava farofa and the Pan Seared Salt Cured Angus beef for meat-lovers, which is complemented with a velvety sweet potato mash.
A vegetarian option of Moqueca Vegetariana is also available by request only** (requires at least 48 hour notice) which is a vibrant banana and pumpkin stew made with tomatoes, pepper and coconut milk, served with coconut rice. Dessert caps off the Brazilian brunch experience on a sweet note with a dessert platter that includes Chocolate Mousse that has a hint of cachaça to keep the Carnaval celebration going.

About Uma Nota
Uma Nota is a modern boteco, which in Brazil is traditionally known as a meeting place for those looking for a refreshing drink and good street food in a fun, easy-going setting.
Nestled at the corner of Hollywood Road and Peel Street, the Brazilian Japanese restaurant & bar brings São Paulo’s Nipo-Brasileiro street food and cocktails to Soho.
Offering a unique twist to a long heritage of Japanese migration to Brazil, the restaurant has adapted a menu to include local ingredients featuring dishes that combine Japanese cooking techniques with fresh, authentic and unique São Paulo flavours.
Uma Nota is unpretentious, open-minded, and lively. This is reflected in its design, its food, its drinks and its vibe; playing music that is a mix of both old school and modern Brazilian, Latin and International beats.
