With fewer new entrants to the once-prevalent jewellery production industry and experienced craftsmen migrating to the Mainland, Hong Kong is facing a sharp decline of skilled jewellery artisans to handcraft exquisite high jewels. Award winning diamond supplier and bespoke jeweller Bee’s Diamonds strives to preserve the traditional art of jewellery making by revealing behind the scene artistry of bespoke jewellery for the first time to individuals. It incorporated a client-focused workshop in their office located in Central’s A-Class commercial building, The Center, which was built specifically for individuals and couples who wish to spend no more than an hour to experience the handcrafting work of high jewellery.
All professional equipment are laid out and taught to use, including a bottle of champagne to celebrate your milestone. You will experience the technical skills of wax sawing, blading, filing, en-graving, polishing and finishing. If you are not looking to spend a few committed weeks to learn jewellery making and simply want to create a unique ring / jewellery piece with guidance, look no further than Bee’s Diamonds. |
Individuals and couples can now make their diamond jewellery, whether it is a Christmas gift or a wedding band to complement an engagement ring for your partner, using the traditional methods of wax carving and lost wax casting at Bee’s Diamonds. Assisted by an experienced artisan and a Gemological Institute of America (GIA)’s graduate gemologist, individuals can turn a 2-D design into a 3D wax ring in an hour with their own hands, fuelled by a complimentary bottle of champagne. The handcrafted wax product will be transformed into a commercial caster, with the completion of an actual ring being made available in a few days’ time.
From now till December 31, 2016, attend “Create your own Diamond Ring” workshop with a spouse for free at Bee’s Diamonds, when you choose to produce two wedding bands in either 18K white gold or platinum.
Modern jewellery making involves computerized design and production using Jewel-CAD and 3D-printers, but highly delicate details and human touches of curvatures cannot be achieved without handcrafting. One of the traditional methods of jewellery making is wax carving, which Hong Kong was once internationally acclaimed for. It is now fading skill as lesser entrants attempt the skill and as technology replaces human crafts. Fewer and fewer artisans in Hong Kong now possess the skills of wax carving, which is fundamental to creating delicate fine jewellery. Those masters who survive possess more than 30 years of experience in crafting some of the most landmark jewellery for esteemed individuals.
The Hong Kong Design Institute is trying to preserve local artistry and to nurture young talents in wax carving skills in hopes of continuing this beautiful art of Hong Kong. Bee’s Diamonds joins in the effort of traditional art preservation by offering workshop of an hour for busy individuals in Central.
