購物可以慳水？還要買得多慳得多？﹗
你或許有聽過，將淋浴時間縮短1分鐘，可節省10公升水；用洗米水、洗菜水澆花又可以慳水，但原來購物可以慳到更多的水﹗沒錯，購物真的可以慳水﹗
購物為何會跟慳水扯上關係？試試翻開衣櫃，以及回想一下自己處理衣物的習慣，你曾經有多少從未使用或穿少於2次而被丟棄的衣物？根據McKinsey一份報告顯示，在2016年，全球消費者購買的服裝比2000年增加了60％，但保留每件服裝的時間卻只有當年的一半。而由Ellen MacArthur Foundation與Stella McCartney共同編制的2017年報告估計，每秒中有相等於一輛裝滿的垃圾車的紡織品進入堆填區或被燒毀，而根據據最近成功上市的二手奢侈品平台The Real Real，當中有95％的服裝可以重用或升級再造。
你可能有為丟棄衣物浪費了金錢而感到可惜，但如果再知道，你丟棄的每件衣物在製造時所需要的用水量，你內心會有更大感受嗎？就以一件T恤為例，原來生產單單一件就需要1000加侖水（約4545公升），即是每丟棄一件T恤，要將淋浴時間縮短454.5分鐘才能夠抵消。
現時消費者在購物時越來越講求質量、品牌、成本及環境保護，購買二手物品正正切合消費者所需，因此近年二手時裝市場急速發展，而且升勢持續，特別是二手奢侈品市場，當中包括外國二手轉售平台龍頭The Real Real、ThredUp、Grailed、Vestiaire Collective相繼獲巨額注資，當中來自法國的Vestiaire Collective更進軍亞洲市場，於2018年進駐香港。而多個平台均分別指出，他們的客戶表示可持續發展這元素，是他們透過其平台購物或寄賣的最大動力之一。
為了讓公眾確切感受到，參與時裝循環經濟能為環境帶來的實際幫助，The Real Real更與Ellen MacArthur Foundation專家合作，於今年四月推出Sustainability Indicator，估算寄賣服飾相對於製造新衣服所能節省的水量和能源。而根據其提供的數字，寄賣一條牛仔褲，可節約279公升水，而一件真絲連身裙和茄士咩毛衣，則分別可節省30公升及80公升水。
