CIRQUE DU SOLEIL’s SIGNATURE SWIRLING BLUE AND YELLOW BIG TOP IS RAISED TODAY AT CENTRAL HARBOURFRONT
Remarking the 7-Day Count Down to KOOZA’s Premiere on 19 April
Hong Kong - 12 April 2018 – The iconic blue and yellow Cirque du Soleil big top was spotted for the first time today in Hong Kong, as the latest touring show - KOOZA, sponsored by AXA,arrived in the city. The big top raising event took place at Central Harbourfront this afternoon where a team of 60 technicians hoisted over 100 metal poles from the ground, as they prepared for the setup of the Cirque du Soleil village.
To accommodate 2,400 people at it’s maximum capacity, the Big Top stands about 56 feet high and is 164 feet in diameter. It is supported by four steel masts that each stands at 82 meters high. Over 550 pegs are required to firmly hold the Big Top to the 4,500 square meters of asphalt ground. 4.2 acres are needed to house the entire site including the tents and trailers. The entire site set-up further includes the installation of the entrance, hospitality and rehearsal tents, administrative offices, workshops, and kitchen.
The Big Top, VIP Rouge and Artistic Tents are all climate controlled with air conditioning in warm seasons and heating for colder seasons. KOOZAtravels city to city with more than 60 trailers carrying the entire village.
The raising of the Big Top officially starts the count down of the Premiere of KOOZA in Hong Kong, coming in one week on Thursday, 19 April.
