2017年4月11日，台灣正式完成三讀，「明文立法　禁食狗肉」，違者最高可處25萬元（約6.3萬港幣）的罰款。不僅再度樹立台灣的文明標誌，更成為亞洲各國「明文立法　禁食狗肉」的一盞明燈。 在這個立法過程可以說很突然就公佈完成三讀，讓人摸不著頭，更讓人詫異台灣是怎麼立法的？甚至立法不是那麼容易，而且一波三折。 2015年9月26日，總部設在香港的世界愛犬聯盟在香港舉行第一屆「世界愛犬節」活動，邀請中國各地、台灣、美國的動保團體出席，一同為「明文立法，禁食狗肉」而聚集，創設人玄陵認為台灣沒有全面禁食貓狗肉的法案。 2015年12月10日， 在台灣動保團隊推動下高雄市三讀通過動物保護自治條例，只要吃了犬貓肉就可重罰一萬五千元到七萬五千元。 ...
