On Sunday 20 December 2020 at the Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium, 2:00pm and 4:30pm, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong presents Magnificent Mozart, a musical portrayal of Mozart’s life performed in sumptuous eighteenth-century costumes.

Created and produced by playwright Leanne Nicholls, Magnificent Mozart captures the extraordinary life of Mozart and chronicles his spectacular rise from child prodigy to the world's most famous composer. Fascinating snippets of Mozart's relationships and life stories are accompanied by dazzling performances of his music by City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and guest artists. The performance conducted by Colin Touchin includes Mozart’s concertos for piano, violin and clarinet, A Musical Joke and the sensational Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute. Popular Hong Kong-based actor Jordan Cheng animates the stage as storyteller, guest opera singer Valentina Tao delights as Mozart’s sister-in-law who premiered the Queen of the Night role, Hong Kong pianist Colleen Lee is cast as Mozart's favourite piano pupil Barbara Ployer and gifted seven-year old local pianist Brandon Lam plays the role of Mozart the outstanding child prodigy. Leading principals of CCOHK including violinist Amelia Chan and clarinetist Anthony Wong also appear as soloists in brilliant excerpts of Mozart’s most popular concertos. Set designer Ernesto Maurice Corpus decorates the concert stage to authentic effect with life-sized 18th century paintings and gorgeous golden candelabras, promising a feast for both the ears and the eyes!

Tickets priced at $450, $350, $250, with half-price concessions for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and minder, and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients, are available from all URBTIX outlets.
