中大推算本地吸煙人士一生至少花逾百萬購煙草產品

吸煙可導致多種致命疾病，如心血管及呼吸道疾病等，亦為社會、醫療系統及吸煙者本身帶來巨大的經濟負擔。據政府統計處2013年公布的資料，本港每日吸煙的人士超過64萬。香港中文大學(中大)醫學院推算，每日吸一包煙的煙民一生約花費114萬港元購買香煙產品，而吸煙亦為香港每年帶來超過113億港元的經濟損失。中大醫學院希望藉著即將來臨的「世界無煙日」(5月31日)，鼓勵市民戒煙。中大醫學院藥劑學院副教授兼「國際藥物經濟暨效果研究學會－香港分會」(ISPOR-HK)主席李詠恩博士表示：「中大醫學院藥劑學院早前曾訪問約一千名18歲或以上香港巿民，發現九成以上受訪者都知道吸煙對身體有害。然而，大部分吸煙的巿民卻沒有因此而戒煙。為了鼓勵巿民戒煙，我們最近進行了一項與吸煙成本有關的研究，包括吸煙為香港每年所帶來的經濟損失，希望有助政府在制訂控煙和禁煙等政策時作參考之用。」 ...
