A Christmas tradition, it wins new fans every year” Time Out

23.12.2018 (Sunday) 4:30pm & 7:30pm Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium

Close to Christmas on 23 December 2018 at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium at 4:30pm & 7:30pm, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK)performs the perennially popular The Snowman & The Bear. These two animated films, both heartwarming and magical, are based on the stories by Raymond Briggs. The Snowman has enchanted children for 40 years. CCOHK will feature the film displayed on the big screen with lively storytelling by Australian actor Michael Sharmon and TVB artist Corinna Cheng best known for her role in the popular TVB comedy-drama Inbound Troubles.

The Snowman tells the heart-warming story of a young boy who builds a snowman one Christmas Eve which comes to life and takes him on a magical journey. The boy and the Snowman fly over snow-capped mountains to the well-known tune of Walking in the Air, to be sung by Alby Chan (aged 11) from St. Paul’s College Primary School (4:30pm performance) and Nathaniel Chan (aged 12) from St. Stephen’s College (7:30pm performance).

The Bear tells the tale of a young girl named Tilly who visits the zoo and accidentally drops her teddy bear into the polar bear’s pit. That night she awakens to find a huge polar bear standing in her bedroom. The bear returns her beloved teddy bear and then takes her on a fantastical bear-ride through the crisp Christmastime night. The beautiful theme song Somewhere a Star Shines, will be performed by Janice Chu (aged 12) from Good Hope School (4:30pm performance) and Chloe Fu (aged 13) from Heep Yunn School (7:30pm performance).

Narrated in English and lasting 80 minutes with a 15-minute interval, The Snowman & The Bear programme is suitable for children aged three and above.
