世界自然基金會(WWF)委託學術機構進行一項有關海洋保護區的最新研究，結果令人驚喜：增加對海洋的保護能增加就業、海洋資源及服務，回報遠比成本高。此研究在經濟學人智庫主辦的世界海洋峰會舉行期間發布，期望能影響各國政府數月後在聯合國的會議上就海洋議題為後世作出舉足輕重的決定。世界自然基金會香港分會確切認為香港必須加強保護海洋，以保障依靠海洋為生的人、包括漁業及旅遊業人士的生計。該研究分析指出每投資一美元建設海洋保護區，便能在就業、海洋保護及漁業等方面有至少三美元的回報。世界自然基金會全球總幹事Marco Lambertini表示﹕「海洋對我們的生命非常重要，我們要成為她的負責人及管理員。一個健康的海洋能保護我們的海岸、吸收大量的碳、創造就業及養育無數家庭。設置海洋保護區能令海洋生態變得健康的同時，更可創造經濟機遇。」 ...

海洋公園公布香港首隻小袋鼠及一條小海豚誕生斑海豹意外死亡有待進一步調查

海洋公園近日喜迎一隻紅頸袋鼠及一條印度太平洋樽鼻海豚，小袋鼠除為首隻在本地出生的袋鼠，更是第一隻於香港誕生的有袋類動物。動物護理員在今年三月察覺來自南澳州的雌性紅頸袋鼠Nano育兒袋有活動跡象，顯示牠已懷有小袋鼠，而牠亦開始舔舐育兒袋、食慾大增及體重上升。袋鼠幼兒一直健康發育，最近更開始從母親的育兒袋探頭露面及環顧四周。Nano及小袋鼠健康狀況良好，現居於【澳新銀行呈獻澳洲歷奇】紅頸袋鼠展區，預計小袋鼠將於9至10個月後才會離開育兒袋。園內一條海豚亦誕下小海豚，母女平安。此外，一隻斑海豹於今日 (01-06-2015) 下午2時30分意外死亡，公園現正就事件作進一步調查。誠如其他有袋類動物的幼兒一樣，小紅頸袋鼠出生時仍在發育初期，體形細小如豆。經過僅約一個月的懷孕期，幼兒沿母親毛髮慢慢爬進育兒袋。袋鼠母親的乳頭被小袋鼠含啜就會漲大，使小袋鼠固定於育兒袋內。 ...
